Baby Surprise for Jake
Here's Jake's Baby Surprise Jacket. I shall return later today to post some of the pattern specifics. Thanks for visiting and see you all later!
Well I am back from seeing baby Jake and delivering his sweater. So, the details! This, my third EZ Baby Surprise Sweater, was made with two different colors of Paton's Astra, Faded Denim and Sky (Ciel), and Bernat Softee Baby, Baby Denim Marl. The Bernat yarn almost appears white, especially in the photos. Of course all are acrylic, as this mom has no time for hand washing! I worked the pattern, as written on size 3.0mm (US 2) circular needles.
I added cuffs by picking up stitches after the sweater was sew along that "magic" shoulder seam, and the hood was made separately so that I could sew it on (and later remove if needed). The hood was worked with 58 stitches, the first and last four with boths colors of the Astra yarn. I made that edge double, so it would have some body, and also contrast. Basically, I worked the denim from both ends of the ball. The center was knit with a single strand, and after about 3-4 inches I also added short rows in the center area so that the front edge of the hood would be shaped. I wrapped the darker color yarn around the lighter at the edge when I turned, and there are no holes where the turns are. I'm pleased with the results and of course, when I can I'll post a picture with baby!

That's a beautiful Baby Surprise for a most precious baby.
Joanna,
What a beautiful Baby Surprise sweater, the colors go together so nicely....and what a great job you did knitting it....congrats!
I am planning on starting my first one ever and it seems rather overwhelming when reading the directions?
I would love to have the pdf if you can find it....and also, what size did you make, using which needles and approximately how much yarn? Do you have a favorite acryllic for the sweater?
Thanks!! :)
The sweater is darling (I especially love the buttons!) and I enjoyed seeing all the photos of it.
