Yarn with uncertain future

I didn't really intend to look for yarn of any kind in my last outing to the local thrift stores. Since we are moving off the boat in a few months the idea is not to bring home more things that eventually have to be moved back off!

But, I am blessed with no less than 5 nice, major thrift stores within 15 minutes of the marina where we live. A trip to the thrifts is always like a treasure hunt. Among other things, I always look for yarn, and or sweaters but I don't usually expect to find any that is worthwile or suitable. As you saw in the last post, Monday was a bonanza day. Name brand yarn for a change! In fact a few weeks ago I got 5 skeins of !00% wool - "Museum" bulky yarn from Artful Yarns for about 10 dollars total. So I guess I have been more than a bit lucky of late. Karma.

Unknown Yarn Anyhow, after my wonderful experience with LACE, I guess I still had visions of thin yarn running around in my subconscious brain. I rounded the corner of one of the stores where I have NEVER found yarn, and here were 4 big cones of yarn. No markings inside, no clue as to what it is. I picked the cleanest, and have hopes it will be something nice. All I can say at this time is it is fuzzy like wool. It is about a tad smaller than sock yarn, and is stiff with something that I am assuming will wash out. So, I may have a lifetime supply of sock like yarn for my Kool-aide dying - or who knows, maybe a beautful piece of lace? I will definitely have to work with it some and try some tests for gauge, and try to identify the fiber(s) involved.
